Cricket Viral Video: Virender Sehwag, the former Indian cricketer, is renowned as one of the most explosive batsmen the game has ever seen. Sehwag was instrumental in changing the mindset of Indian players and was one of the first batsmen to play an aggressive form of cricket. An incident that remains lesser known is Sehwag’s feat of scoring 21 runs off just 2 balls during an ODI match against Pakistan in 2004 in Karachi.

How did Sehwag score 21 off 2 balls

It was Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, the Pakistan bowler, who helped Sehwag reach this rare accomplishment by delivering five no-balls in the 11th over of the game. Sehwag took advantage of the opportunity and sent four boundaries to the boundary off the first seven balls bowled by Rana. The umpire judged two of those seven balls as no-balls and the third ball was deemed a no-ball with a single awarded to the batting team.

The first legal delivery came on the fourth attempt, which Sehwag left untouched for a dot. The next two deliveries were again no-balls, off which Sehwag hit a boundary and collected an extra, respectively. The second legal ball, which was the seventh delivery of the over, resulted in a boundary.

Despite leaking 21 runs off just two balls, Rana eventually managed to take Sehwag’s wicket in the 15th over but not before Sehwag welcomed Rana with a six on the first ball of the spell. India won the match by 5 runs and Sehwag was the third-highest run-scorer with 79 off 57 balls. Rana Naved-ul-Hasan went on to play 74 ODIs for Pakistan, picking 110 wickets at an average of 29.28.
