Cricket Viral Video: Every sport and their players are known for their celebration style after victory or personal accomplishment. These kind of actions on the field have sometimes also come under the radar of criticism. A similar kind of instance happened with the former England test skipper and star batsman Joe Root as well. During a match in July, 2018 versus India, Joe Root smashed a match-winning century, but what he did next, left everyone speechless.

Joe Root’s iconic bat drop celebration

Joe Root, who was the Test captain for England during that time, led his side to victory by hitting an unbroken hundred while chasing a 257-run mark. He was joined by then ODI captain Eoin Morgan, who struck 88 not out.Root, who batted at number 3, reached his second consecutive ODI century at Headingley in the championship match. The last of his knock’s total of ten fours came on the last delivery of the game, which also got him to his hundred.

As a cricket-specific variant of the mic drop used by comedians and performers, Root then celebrated in style with an enormous “bat drop” in front of Virat Kohli.

Though, Root expressed his embarrassment at his celebration later and decided to never repeat it in the future. The act was harshly criticised by majority of people in the cricketing community. Even his team-mate Jonny Bairstow once mentioned that he was also trolled in the dressing room and that the action did not imply a good statement.
