Cristiano Ronaldo: As Morocco eliminated Portugal from the World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo broke down in tears. Following the Selecao's nail-biting 1-0 quarterfinal loss to the Atlas Lions (Morocco), the 37-year-old went straight to the locker room after the final whistle. Ronaldo was comforted and guided by a member of the Portuguese FA staff as he walked alone back to the dressing room while wiping away his tears.

Given that the renowned forward was benched for the previous two games by head coach Fernando Santos, it is likely his final appearance in the league. After coming in to replace Ruben Neves at the Al Thumama Stadium after 51 minutes, Ronaldo had a significant impact on teammate Joao Felix's skillful lay-off, which led to a powerful shot that Bounou brilliantly saved.

Give title to Argentina: Pepe

Before Pepe's header, which sailed narrowly wide of the post, Ronaldo came near to connecting with a cross as Portugal pushed late for an equaliser. In order to get to the Qatar World Cup final, Morocco will now face France.

While Ronaldo, who departed Manchester United by mutual consent during the competition, is left to look for a new team.

Pepe later said, “It is inadmissible that an Argentine referee administered the game today after what happened yesterday, with Messi complaining. After what I saw today, they can now give the title to Argentina.”
