CSK vs GT IPL 2023: The reigning champions Gujarat Titans have defeated Chennai Super Kings by six wickets in the opening clash of tournament. Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first in the game. Chennai Super Kings managed to score 178/7 in 20 overs, riding on the knock of Ruturaj Gaikwad’s brilliant 50-ball-92. In response, Gujarat Titans chased down the target with four balls to spare. Now, they have won all the three matches they have played against CSK.
Coming to chase in the match, Gujarat Titans had a decent start in their innings. Opener Wriddhiman Saha scored 25 runs off 16 balls. Shubman Gill led from the front and continued his impressive form by scoring 63 runs off 36 balls, hitting six boundaries and three maximums. Sai Sudarshan scored 22 off 17 balls whereas Captain Hardik Pandya scored 8 off 11 balls.
After a quick fall of wickets and the situation becoming tense, Vijay Shankar played a brave cameo as he scored 27 off 21 balls. However, 23 runs were still required in the last two overs with Shankar already gone but Rahul Tewatia (15 off 14) and Rashid Khan (10 off 3 balls) took them beyond the line. Rajvardhan grabbed a three wicket haul while Tushar Deshpande and Ravindra Jadeja picked up a wicket as well.
Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Brilliant knock
Earlier, Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans won the toss and decided to bowl in the match first. Chennai Super King did not have a good start as opener Devon (1 off 6) was dismissed cheaply. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad then took on the charge and scored a mammoth 92 runs off 50 balls, hitting four boundaries and nine maximums. Apart from him, Moeen Ali scored 23 runs off 17 balls.
MS Dhoni came to bat in the end and scored 14 off 7 balls, hitting a boundary and six. Shivam Dube scored 19 off 18 while no other batter could do much significant. Shami, Rashid Khan, Alzarri Joseph picked two wickets while Joshua Little grabbed one as well.
