Dale Steyn backs MS Dhoni to play next IPL season

Former South Africa pacer Dale Steyn said MS Dhoni would take the gloves in the next season for Chennai Super Kings if he scores runs in the final.

He commented on MS Dhoni's batting and leadership in IPL 2021 and said CSK are back in competive zone only because of MS Dhoni's captaincy.

"He is the boss of Chennai. When you think Chennai, you think MS Dhoni. And you know what? They've got a couple of games left and they are already into the finals. But we haven't see Dhoni do anything. If he smashes the winning runs in the final, you can guarantee that he will be taking the gloves for Chennai in next year's IPL," Steyn said on ESPNCricinfo's Polite Enquiries which included a question: "Do you think MS Dhoni will retain himself next year for CSK looking at the current form he is in?"

CSK have already qualified for the playoffs and were the first team to achieve that in IPL 2021. Now, Chennai are looking for a top-two finish to get their chances better for the playing the final.
