Similarly, they will enter the 2023 ODI World Cup after triumphing in the 2022 T20 World Cup on Australian soil. Remarkably, England is also the reigning champion of the ODI World Cup.
2. Netherlands’ qualification
The Netherlands team secured qualification for the 2023 ODI World Cup as runners-up in the WC qualifiers tournament. Notably, this marks their return to the ODI World Cup stage after missing out on the 2015 and 2019 editions, making it their first appearance since 2011.
3. India vs Sri Lanka at Wankhede
Indian cricket fans hold a lasting memory of the 2011 ICC ODI World Cup final, where India triumphed after 28 years, thanks to a sensational innings by their captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who sealed the victory in style. In the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup, India is set to face Sri Lanka once more, this time at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on November 2nd.
4. Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib Al Hasan served as the captain of the Bangladesh team during the 2011 World Cup. Following that, there was a significant gap in his captaincy stint, with only three ODI matches played as captain from 2012 to 2017. Surprisingly, he was given the opportunity to lead the side in the 2023 Asia Cup, and subsequently, he was announced as the captain of the Bangladesh team for the 2023 ODI World Cup.
5. Virat Kohli & R Ashwin playing
