Dhawan to lead, Iyer named vice-captain for South Africa ODI series

India have announced their ODI squad for the three-match series vs South Africa starting October 6.

The All-India Senior Selection Committe has named Shikhar Dhawan as the skipper of the side while Shreyas Iyer named as his deputy.

Middle-order batter Rajat Patidar and pacer Mukesh Kumar have received maiden ODI call-ups. Interestingly, batter Shreyas Iyer, pace all-rounder Deepak Chahar and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who are travelling reserves in India’s squad for the Men’s T20 World Cup to be held later in Australia, have been included in the ODI squad.

The team has no player from the T20I squad which is set to fly Australia for the T20 World Cup later this month.

The three T20Is will be played in October 6, 9 and 11 in Lucknow, Ranchi and New Delhi respectively.
