Duleep Trophy: After making several headlines for the past few months, Sarfaraz Khan, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Prithvi Shaw were finally playing a match. And coincidentally, all three of them failed to shine at the same time.
A star-studded West Zone team failed to make a big score but was saved by their bowling lineup. A team consisting of Prithvi Shaw, Priyank Panchal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Suryakumar Yadav, and Sarfaraz Khan were bowled out on 228 runs only.
Central Zone tried to pounce on the opportunity but massively failed as they were bowled out on just 128. Rinku Singh was the only batsman who played diligently as he scored 48 runs before departing. Arzan Nagwaswalla took five wickets for West Zone.
Batting Failure
While batting first, West Zone were never able to put any kind of pressure on bowling team. In a rather odd cloudy day which was perfect for bowling, Priyank Panchal took the decision of batting first bravely.
Maybe it was Panchal’s idea to prove everyone wrong as half of the West Zone was snubbed from team India selection. Central Zone captain Shiavam Mavi just popped on the opportunity and took six crucial wickets to dismiss West Zone on just 228.
Pujara played massive 102 deliveries but was only able to make 28 runs. Prithvi Shaw hot out on 26 runs while Priyank Panchal could only muster up 13 runs. Suryakumar Yadav was caught in slips on just seven runs while Sarfaraz Khan was bowled on 0.
Rinku Singh Resilience
One the other hand, after getting snubbed from the team both Dhruv Jurel and Rinku Singh have a swift reply to selectors. In a match dominated by bowlers, bith of the stuck on their ends for a good amount of time.
Dhruv Jurel made 46 while Rinku Singh missed out on his half century by just 2 runs. Other than these two only Saurabh Kumar touched the double digit score for Central Zone. Arzan Nagwaswalla took five wickets in just 14 overs he bowled.
The second inning of first Duleep Trophy has started. By the end of first session West Zone has made 13/0. Prithvi Shaw scored 13 runs in 2 overs while Priyank Panchal is yet to face a delivery.
