Emerging Asia Cup: Pakistan A defeated India A in the final of the Emerging Asia Cup 2023 by 128 runs to lift the title for the second time in a row. But was it ever a fair competition in the first place or Pakistan had an unfair advantage?

After the defeat, many fans have come out and complained about the age gap and experience gap between the Pakistan team and the Indian team. And the complaints are fair to a certain extent as well.

After all, the international experience is a thing that matures a player. It gives players a unique perspective on the game and helps them remain calm in dire situations. And for the most part that makes all the difference. After all, cricket is more of a mental game than a physical one.

Huge Difference In Experience

Pakistan A boasted 4 players that were above the age of 25. On the one hand where India has average age was just 22, while Pakistan's average age was 23.02. Taiyab Tahir, who scored a century in the final is 29 years old.

The Pakistan A team had an international experience of 85 matches while India has exactly 0 international matches experience. And believe it or not, these 85 matches make a lot of difference.

Grace In Defeat

But at the end of the day, all of these feel like an excuse. India A had defeated Pakistan earlier in the tournament and they are capable of doing it again. By making excuses we are just diminishing everything they have achieved in this tournament.

Fair or unfair, let the players decide that. Let's just focus on the point that our boys played wonderfully throughout the tournament and were undefeated till the finals. But the question still remains, should players above the age of 23 be allowed to participate in emerging cups?
