ENG vs PAK: Jos Buttler, the captain of England, won the toss and chose to field first in their ICC T20 World Cup final match against Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Stadium. Due to their grief over David English's passing, English cricketers entered the field with black armbands on their sleeves.

Jos Buttler, who is leading his team against Pakistan in the World Cup championship game, used Twitter to post “So sad to hear the news of David English passing away. One of life’s great characters, so fun to spend time with and producer of some of the best English cricketers through his wonderful Bunbury Festivals. RIP."

ECB hails David English

ECB tweeted a statement in response to the passing of English cricketer “The ECB is saddened to learn of the loss of David English CBE. He did so much for the game, and for charity, and he played a part in the rise of many England Men’s cricketers. Our thoughts at this time are with his friends and family."

Most notable work of David English

David English, the legendary "Godfather of English Cricket," who helped launch the careers of more than 1000 first-class cricketers, including more than 125 international players, through the Bunbury schools festival, passed away at the age of 76 after suffering a heart attack.

English, who was awarded a CBE in 2010 for his contributions to cricket and philanthropy, worked at Lord's Stadium as well as played for Marleybone CC. However, it was his foundation of the Bunbury Cricket Club and his backing for the festival that cemented his status as a legend.
