FIFA World Cup 2022: Like other parts of the world, Kerala is filled with the FIFA craze. A video showing people fighting over their favourite football team has surfaced on social media, after images showing Keralites placing cut-outs of Messi in a lake and buying a house to watch the match went viral on the internet.

Fans engage in violence during rally
A recent video from Kollam, Kerala, shows Argentina and Brazil supporters fighting while a rally is underway through the Sakthikulangara neighbourhood. In Kerala, roadshows are a typical sight during FIFA World Cups. However, this kind of violence is not a regular incident to happen and has breaken into highlight.
On the basis of the footage of the fight, a case has been filed at the Sakthikulangara Police Station under Section 160 of the Indian Penal Code, which refers to disturbing the peace in a public place. Watch video here:

Similar incidents reported from Kerala
With the arrival of FIFA world cup, several news have been breaking out from Kerala regarding the same. Recently, a group of 17 fans from Mundakkamugal village in Kochi reportedly pooled their money and purchased a house for 23 lakh only so they could watch matches together.
Meanwhile, in Kannur, a man was detained for reportedly ripping down the Portuguese flag that had been flown at a roadside and was being led star striker Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United.
On social media, a video of the man tearing down the flag quickly became popular. According to some sources, the man—who was reportedly a BJP supporter—mistook the Portuguese flag for the banner of the Social Democratic Party of India, a rival political party.
