Former Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif’s Praise for Shaheen Afridi Sparks Subtle Dig at Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli – See here

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took a dig at India's captain Rohit Sharma and star batsman Virat Kohli for their struggles against Pakistan's Shaheen Shah Afridi during an Asia Cup 2023 match in Sri Lanka's Pallekele.

Virat Kohli: Shehbaz Sharif, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, indirectly took a dig India’s captain Rohit Sharma and star batsman Virat Kohli. This came in the aftermath of India’s top-order batsmen struggling to score runs and falling to the exceptional performance of Pakistan’s premium fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, during an Asia Cup 2023 match in Sri Lanka’s Pallekele.

The match was marred by continuous rain, and Afridi played a pivotal role in disrupting India’s top order, ultimately claiming four crucial wickets as India managed to post a competitive total of 266. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli made headlines due to their batting struggles against the skilful Shaheen Afridi, drawing praise for Afridi’s remarkable performance.

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also joined in the applause, expressing his excitement on Twitter platform ‘X’ to commend the talented left-arm pacer. He earlier made a tweet in which he wrote just “SHAHEEN” possibly to praise the bowler. However, later on, he reposted it along with “THEY CANNOT PLAY HIM.”
