Experienced opener David Warner, a participant in two World Cups (2015 and 2019), secured the championship title in 2015 and reached the semifinals in the 2019 event. Warner's ODI World Cup record consists of 18 matches played, averaging an impressive 62 with the bat. The left-handed batsman has notched four centuries and three fifties in ODI World Cups. In the 2019 edition, he emerged as the second-highest run-scorer with 647 runs in 10 innings.
3. Rohit Sharma - 978 Runs
Leading the chart in the previous World Cup edition, Indian captain Rohit Sharma accumulated 648 runs, narrowly missing the all-time record by 26 runs. He has scored 978 Runs in two world cups. Holding a strong record, the right-handed batsman maintains an average of 65.20 across 17 matches, boasting six centuries and three fifties in his ODI World Cup journey.
4. Kane Williamson - 911 Runs
While his participation in the World Cup 2023 remains uncertain, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson boasts an outstanding track record in ODI World Cups. Honored as the player of the tournament in the previous edition, he garnered 578 runs and secured two wickets. With an impressive average of 56.93 from 22 innings, including two centuries and three fifties, Williamson's ODI World Cup journey has been remarkable. Additionally, he emerged as the runner-up in the last two editions of the tournament.
5. Steve Smith - 834 Runs
Having participated in three editions of the ODI World Cup (2011, 2015, and 2019), Steve Smith maintains an average of 46.33 over 20 innings. Despite his reputation for converting starts into big scores, Smith's conversion rate in World Cups has been relatively modest. Accumulating one century and eight fifties in his World Cup journey, he clinched the title in the 2015 home edition and secured the position of the sixth-highest run-scorer.
