Golden Glory! Smriti Mandhana & Sharpshooters Arjun Cheema, Sarabjot Singh, and Shiva Narwal Win Gold at Asian Games 2023

Asian Games 2023: Vice-captain of India, Smriti Mandhana said she was glad to add to India's medal total in the multi-sport competition after winning the gold medal at the 19th Asian Games on Thursday. She also said singing the national anthem on the podium in Hangzhou made her emotional.

India Clinches Gold in Thrilling Asian Games Cricket Final

India successfully defended a modest score of 117 runs to win the gold medal in the Asian Games women's cricket competition in their first game because to a strong performance from Titas Sandhu and outstanding spin bowling from Deepti Sharma and Devika Vaidya. Women in Blue defeated Sri Lanka in the summit match by 19 runs to win the gold medal. The team's vice captain stated receiving a coveted medal was a really meaningful event. "It was a very special moment for all when we won the gold medal. It felt great to see our national flag and sing our national anthem play there. I was emotional. I am really happy that we could contribute to the medal tally," Mandhana told ANI at an event in Ahmedabad.

In the shooting competition at the 2018 Asian Games in Hangzhou on Thursday, the men's 10m Air Pistol team of Arjun Cheema, Sarabjot Singh, and Shiva Narwal won a gold medal. During an interview with ANI in Hangzhou, Arjun Cheema claimed that the three shooters' team had experienced all the highs and lows because they had been working together for the previous three months and had participated in three events, which had helped them develop a bond.

"It has been three months we have been playing together and in between we also took part in 3-4 competitions. When you see each other's ups and downs it helps to form a good bond as a team. It is a team effort, of the three of us, the coaches, and the SAI," Arjun Cheema told ANI. Shiva Narwal expressed his happiness at his brother Manish securing a quota berth for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Shiva went on to say that the occasion is joyful for both his family and the entire country.
