Sachin Tendulkar: On April 24, the occasion of Sachin Tendulkar's 50th birthday, the Sydney Cricket Ground paid tribute to the legendary cricketers by unveiling gates named after them. The gates at the iconic Australian venue were named after Tendulkar, a former Indian player, and his good friend and former West Indies cricketer, Brian Lara. This marks the first time that non-Australian players have had their names inscribed on a set of gates at SCG.
Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara's records at SCG
The gates that bear the names of Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara are positioned between the away dressing room of the Member's Pavilion and the Noble Bradman Messenger Stand. These gates will serve as a means of access to the field of play for visiting players. Sachin Tendulkar, also known as the Master Blaster, has a remarkable record at SCG, which is his preferred venue outside India.
In the five Test matches that Tendulkar played at the ground, he amassed 785 runs, boasting an impressive average of 157. He scored three centuries and two half-centuries during his innings. Furthermore, Tendulkar also achieved a double century, having played an unbeaten knock of 241 runs at the SCG in 2004.
On the honour, Tendulkar said, "The Sydney Cricket Ground has been my favourite ground away from India. I have had some great memories at the SCG right from my first tour of Australia in 1991-92. It is a great honour to have the gates used by all visiting cricketers to access the field of play at the SCG named after me and my good friend Brian."

The ground holds many special memories for me and my family and I always enjoy visiting whenever I'm in Australia." Brian Lara also has a remarkable history at SCG. He has accumulated 384 runs in four games, boasting an average of 54.84. Additionally, Lara has a high score of 277 runs at the venue, further adding to his fond memories of the iconic ground.
