The ongoing Boxing Day Test between India and South Africa is the last match Team India are playing in 2021. The year started with Ajinkya Rahane-led Test side lifting the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia in the absence of big names in the team and shocking the entire world. India then defeated England at home and later when they toured the UK where the Virat Kohli-led side defeated the home team in two games at The Lord's and Oval. However, the final match of the series has been postponed to next year after COVID-19 cases in the Indian camp but India lead the five-match series 2-1.

The biggest heart-break for India was the WTC final that was played before the England tour. In WTC final New Zealand defeated the current World No.1 in the final to lift the inaugural trophy.

The focus then shifted to the home series against New Zealand where India defeated the World Test Champions 1-0 in the two-match Test series.

Team India have never won a Test series in South Africa and the Virat Kohli-led side are set for the biggest challenge to end the quest of a series win in the Rainbow Nation.
