The ICC Awards for 2023 have recognized exceptional cricket performances across T20 Internationals, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and Test matches throughout the year. Let’s delve into the standout players shortlisted for various awards in each format.

T20 International Cricketer of the Year 2023

In the T20 International category, nominees include Suryakumar Yadav (India), Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe), Alpesh Ramjani (Uganda), and Mark Chapman (New Zealand). Suryakumar Yadav takes the spotlight, leading the race with an impressive record of 733 runs in 17 matches, boasting an average of 48.86 and a striking strike rate of 155.95.

ODI Cricketer of the Year 2023

In the ODI category, Indian players Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Mohammed Shami, alongside New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell, are nominated. Shubman Gill claims the highest run-scorer title with 1584 runs, while Mohammed Shami stands out with 43 wickets in 19 matches. Daryl Mitchell showcases all-round excellence, contributing both with the bat (1204 runs) and the ball (9 wickets).

Test Cricketer of the Year 2023

For Test Cricketer of the Year, nominees include Australians Travis Head and Pat Cummins, English player Joe Root, and Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Ravichandran Ashwin impresses with 41 wickets in 7 matches, while Travis Head showcases his batting prowess with 919 runs in 12 matches. Usman Khawaja stands out with an impressive 1210 runs, and Joe Root contributes significantly with 787 runs and 8 wickets.

Cricketer of the Year 2023

Two players each from India and Australia are nominated for this award. Australia’s Travis Head, who scored 1698 runs in 31 matches, is a strong contender. He was the Player of the Match in the World Test Championship Final and the World Cup Final. Pat Cummins, with 59 wickets in 24 international matches and 422 runs, played a key role in Australia winning the WTC and World Cup. On the Indian side, Virat Kohli, with 2048 runs in 35 matches, and Ravindra Jadeja, who took 66 wickets and scored 613 runs, are also nominated. The race for this award is fascinating, and Pat Cummins seems to have a slight advantage in this competition.
