He surpassed the previous record held by Sri Lankan bowling legend Lasith Malinga, who took 25 innings to reach 50 wickets in World Cups, accomplishing this feat when he dismissed India’s Ishan Kishan with a golden duck during the IND vs AUS ICC Cricket World Cup match on October 5 in Chennai.

Centuries from Rassie van der Dussen, Quinton de Kock, and Aiden Markram enabled South Africa to amass a remarkable first-innings total of 428 runs in their World Cup match against Sri Lanka.

  1. Australia lost six wickets to spin, tying the record for the most wickets falling to spin in a World Cup match.
  2. For the first time in ODIs against Australia, India’s three batsmen out of top four were dismissed without scoring a run (duck).
  3. Virat Kohli, with 5517 runs, surpassed Sachin Tendulkar for the most runs in successful chases in ODIs.
  4. Rohit Sharma became the joint-fastest player to reach 1000 runs in Cricket World Cups, achieving this milestone in 19 innings, equaling Australia’s David Warner.
  5. Rohit Sharma has surpassed Virat Kohli to become the second-highest run-scorer for India in World Cups, accumulating 1195 runs. He now trails only Sachin Tendulkar, who remains the highest run-getter for India in World Cups with 2278 runs.
  6. Rohit Sharma now holds the record for the most centuries (7) by a player in Cricket World Cups.
  7. Rohit Sharma also has the most centuries (3) in the second innings in Cricket World Cups.
  8. Rohit Sharma set a new record with 556 international sixes in all formats.
  9. Rohit Sharma scored the fastest century by an Indian batter at a Cricket World Cup, achieving this feat in 63 balls.
