ICC rejects Pakistan’s request to relocate 2 World Cup 2023 matches in India

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is still not quite sure about sending its team to India for the ODI World Cup, but the International Cricket Council (ICC) is pretty sure of Babar Azam’s team coming to India. The ICC on Tuesday announced the schedule of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 to be held from October 5 to November 19.

Pakistan does not want to play in Bangalore and Chennai

Meanwhile, the ICC rejected PCB’s request not to schedule Pakistan’s matches in Chennai and Bengaluru. The PCB did not want to play their tie against Afghanistan on a spin-friendly pitch in Chennai and also wanted to avoid facing Australia in Bengaluru.

With the announcement of the schedule during an event in Mumbai, it was confirmed that Pakistan will play their World Cup tie with India on 15 October in Ahmedabad. Will face Australia on October 20 at Bengaluru ground and Afghanistan from October 23 in Chennai.

Soon after the announcement, the PCB made it clear that it would take a decision on the ODI World Cup only after getting approval from the government of Pakistan. The PCB official said that the government has not yet issued any NOC to the PCB to travel to India and since it is a sensitive issue, the board can go ahead only after getting clear instructions from the government.
