Imran Khan: Cricket Australia has come to the rescue of a fan wearing the ‘Free Imran Khan’ T-shirt. The fan was wearing the shirt while gaining entry to the Sheffield Shield final between Victoria and South Australia at Junction Oval, Melbourne. The former Pakistan Prime Minister has been forced to stay in jail by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir. In recent days, many political and cricket personalities have advocated for release of the 1992 World Cup winning captain.
Several top political personalities in Pakistan along with members of the general public have also openly advocated for the early and immediate release of Khan.
Imran Khan-Cricket Australia Steps In
After learning of the incident, Cricket Australia stepped in. A spokesperson commented that this is not a political but a humanitarian issue given the widespread concern for the welfare of Imran Khan in the cricket community.

Plea By Cricket Legends
A group of 14 cricket legends recently wrote a letter to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif raised concerns for the health of Imran Khan. They requested that Khan must be treated with utmost dignity and basic human consideration.
The legends included Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Greg Chappell, Ian Chappell, Allan Border, Steve Waugh, Kim Hughes and Belinda Clark. Others included Michael Atherton, Nasser Hussain, Mike Brearley, David Gower, John Wright and Clive Lloyd.
Plea By Khan’s Sons
Recently, Imran Khan’s sons Sulaiman and Kasim remarked that the ruling Pakistan government and Munir have been torturing their father illegally.
They further remarked Imran Khan has been fighting strongly for something he truly believed in and cared about. Khan’s sons also said that the life of their father is dedicated to something greater, bringing them out of poverty and corruption.
