On Saturday evening, Neeraj Chopra became the first Indian to win a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. He defeated world number one Johannes Vetter in the men's javelin throw finals. In addition, this was India's first Olympic medal in athletics.
Chopra threw a distance of 87.58m to pick the gold at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics. As a result of this win, India has now won seven medals in the multi-sporting event.
