Stadium echoes with chants of ‘Rishabh’

Suddenly, Pant’s name began ringing through the stadium, and this showed that both Team India and cricket fans were missing Rishabh Pant dearly in this Test series. Pant has been a regular member of the Test team for several years, and his match-winning innings for India has been significant. As such, when chants were raised in his name, Virat Kohli looked down at the ground in despair for about three seconds.

Although Rishabh Pant hails from Uttarakhand, his cricket career blossomed in Delhi, making him the local boy of Delhi, whom the cricket fans there fervently support. Pant also captains the Delhi Capitals in the IPL and is the team’s most expensive player.

Unfortunately, Pant had an accident on the Roorkee Expressway on December 30, 2022, while en route to his hometown to surprise his family members and celebrate the new year with them. The accident was severe, and Pant’s car was burnt badly, causing him significant injuries. He was initially taken to Max Hospital in Dehradun and then to Mumbai for treatment. Though Pant is now on the mend, it may be six to eight months or more before he returns to international cricket.
