IND vs AUS: As an Indian cricket team fan. we can never have our team sailing smoothly, can we? Just when everything was coming together and everyone was returning to their best, Axar Patel got injured in Asia Cup 2023.

It was a worrisome injury that ruled him out for a couple of weeks. It was predicted that he would make his comeback in the third ODI match against Australia and then will play the warm-up games.

The team management was assured that he would be part of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 squad. But that hope has suffered another blow as he is ruled out of the third ODI against Australia.

IND vs AUS: No Axar For Final ODI

The spin-bowling all-rounder has been out of action since the Super 4 match against Bangladesh. He is an important part of the squad and was supposed to take part in most of the matches in the World Cup.

He is suffering from a quadriceps strain and won’t be part of the third ODI as well. Cricbuzz has shared a report which stated that Axar Patel has not recovered completely yet. He is still undergoing rehabilitation at NCA.

India has called Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar for the Australia ODI series. While Sundar did not get any chance in the two matches, Ashwin performed brilliantly in the second one.

Doubtful for ICC ODI World Cup 2023

The team management is hopeful that Axar will return for the warm-up matches before the ODI World Cup. That is why they have not made any changes to the 15-man squad. But if he does not recover in due time, it is possible that Ashwin will take his place.

India squad for the third ODI: Rohit Sharma (c), Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, R Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj
