IND vs AUS: Steve Smith to lead in Ahmedabad test; a series draw on cards for BGT 2023?

IND vs AUS: In the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy’s fourth and final Test against India, Steve Smith will continue with the role of captain for Australia. This is due to the regular captain, Pat Cummins, having to remain back home with his unwell mother who is receiving palliative care. Cummins had already missed the Indore Test and had flown back home after the Delhi Test to be with his mother.

Pat Cummins to return for IND vs AUS ODIs?

As per reports, Pat Cummins will remain in Sydney and it’s uncertain whether he will participate in the three upcoming ODIs after the final Test. Meanwhile, Steve Smith successfully led Australia to a nine-wicket victory in Indore last week while filling in for Cummins. India is currently leading the series 2-1 and must secure a win in the final Test to qualify for the World Test Championship final.

Meanwhile, Australia has already reached the WTC final that is scheduled to take place in June this year. Furthermore, it has been reported that Jhye Richardson’s injury has caused him to be replaced by Nathan Ellis in the Australia squad for the upcoming ODIs, starting on March 17. This could also become a possible headache for the Mumbai Indians as well as Bumrah is unlikely to feature in IPL 2023.
