IND vs AUS: In a rather uneventful end to the fourth Test match, India emerged as the victors of the four-match series, with a final score of 2-1, thus securing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the fourth consecutive time. This also marked their fourth consecutive series win against the Australian cricket team. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, the Indian side now holds a remarkable record of 16 consecutive Test series victories at home.

Series ends with a draw

Three matches prior to this one ended in three days while this is the sole test that went to full-time. Batting first, Australia scored 480 runs in the first innings, thanks to a valiant 180-run knock from Khawaja and 114-run knock from Cameron Green. Ashwin took a six-wicket haul in the inning while Shami picked two wickets and Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel picked a wicket as well.

Replying to which, the Men in Blue scored 571 runs and took a lead of 91 runs. Virat Kohli regained his test form and scored 186 runs while Shubman Gill also scored 128 runs. Murphy and Lyon picked three wicket hauls while Starc and Kunhemann picked a wicket as well. Shreyas Iyer had an injury in the match and thus could not come to the field.

However, on the final day when fans expected wickets from the bowlers, the vice versa happened. Only Ashwin and Axar could pick a wicket as Aussies scored 175/2 in 78.1 overs and took a lead of 84 runs. However, no result looked possible the players shaked hands all of a sudden and called for the end of match.

IND vs AUS on the biggest stage now

The two teams are set to face each other once again in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final, which is scheduled to take place at The Oval in London from June 7. Thanks to New Zealand's win against Sri Lanka in the first Test in Christchurch, India has secured a spot in the WTC Final alongside Australia. Sri Lanka had to win both of their matches against the Black Caps to keep their hopes alive, but Kane Williamson's century on Monday dashed their chances.
