IND vs AUS: During the first session of Day 1, as the second Test between India and Australia was taking place in Delhi, there was a significant announcement that drew everyone’s attention. The Chairman of Selectors for the BCCI resigned from his position and submitted his resignation to Secretary Jay Shah. This move was not unexpected, given the controversy stirred by Chetan Sharma’s explosive comments, which were caught in a Zee Media sting operation, and had sent shockwaves through Indian cricket. Sharma’s departure was inevitable as a result of the scandal.

As the dust settled after Sharma’s resignation, a fan’s placard at the Arun Jaitley Stadium has gone viral. Sharma’s video, which had also gone viral, contained his opinions about Kohli, such as his disagreement with then-president Sourav Ganguly, leading to an ego clash between the two. Sharma made alarming claims, such as Kohli’s belief that he was superior to the BCCI and his efforts to discredit Ganguly. However, the fans placard showed the same thing. Through, the for of pictures, Virat was showed as bigger than BCCI.
Sharma also asserted that Kohli was dishonest when he stated that he had not been asked to reconsider his resignation as India’s T20I skipper, claiming that Ganguly had, in fact, requested him to do so. Furthermore, the former India fast bowler alleged that Indian cricketers were given injections to participate in major tournaments despite being only 70-80 percent fit.
Chetan Sharma’s big remarks in sting
The former cricketer claimed that there was a disagreement between him and the team management over Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback from a stress fracture for the T20I series against Australia in September. He also disclosed that the BCCI had been using the excuse of ‘resting’ key players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to give opportunities to younger players in the T20I game.
The remarks triggered a strong reaction in the Indian cricket media, and while the team or players have not yet responded to the matter, according to BCCI sources, Sharma’s controversial statements have caused everyone to lose confidence in him.
Meanwhile, Kohli, who is playing his first Test match at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground in six years, has received an overwhelming show of support on his return to his home turf, including from the fan with the placard. Before the Test match, Kohli himself drove to the stadium, and his departure in his Porsche after practicing left the Delhi crowd in a state of euphoria.
