IND vs BAN: Virat Kohli, the former captain of India, has finally silenced his critics after he scored his maiden century in the ODI format after 25 innings, which spanned 1214 days, three months after ending the much-controversial century drought in international cricket. On Saturday, in the third and final ODI of the series at Chattogram's Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Kohli finally broke his ODI century drought against Bangladesh.

Virat Kohli stiched 290-run partnership during IND vs BAN match

Kohli's century followed Ishan Kishan's explosive and record-breaking performance of 210 runs, which made the young batsman the fourth Indian hitter to score a double century and the fastest player to 200 runs in an ODI innings.

After opener Shikhar Dhawan was out for just 3 off just 8 deliveries, the second-wicket partnership put together an incredible 290-run stand to help India win the match. After more than three years, Kohli scored his first ODI century by smashing 11 boundaries in only 85 balls. When India toured the West Indies following the ODI World Cup in 2019, he recorded his last triple-figure score.

It was his 44th ODI tonne and his 72nd overall, taking him above the famous Ricky Ponting to reach the second spot in the amazing list of most international tonnes and bringing him even closer to Sachin Tendulkar. In ODIs, Kohli is currently five centuries away from Sachin's record and 28 from his total tally.

Along the way, Kohli reached the 1000-run milestone in ODIs in Bangladesh, passing Australian Shane Watson as the second player to do so. Including Australia and England, he has now amassed 1000 or more runs in three different foreign countries. In the third One Day International, India will try to avenge losses in the first two games this week and prevent Bangladesh from winning the series by securing a victory.
