IND vs BAN: The second of a three-match series between Bangladesh and India, which is being played at Mirpur, Dhaka, on December 7, 2022, saw an outstanding finish from Bangladesh in the first innings. Mehidy Hasan and Mahmudullah helped the hosts recover brilliantly from being 69/6 when they batted first after winning the toss and choosing to bowl first.

Siraj and Umran rattles Bangladesh’s top order
Both teams made a few adjustments, with Umran Malik and Akshar Patel joining the Indian XI in place of Kuldeep Sen and Shahbaz Ahmed, respectively, and Nasum Ahmed replacing Hasan Mahmud in the Bangladesh XI.
Mohammed Siraj and Washington Sundar disrupted the Bangladeshi batting order in the first 20 overs or so, removing the openers Anamul Haque (11) and Litton Das (7), while Washington Sundar dismissed the seasoned pair of Shakib Al Hasan (8) and Mushfiqur Rahim. Only Najmul Hossain Shanto managed to surpass the 20-run mark (12).
Umran Malik bowled Shanto for 21 runs, leaving Bangladesh reeling at 69/6 after 19 overs. As a record for Bangladesh against India in ODIs, Mahmudullah and Mehidy Hasan then scored 148 runs for the seventh wicket. While anchoring one end and Mehidy scored from the other, Mahmudullah made 77 in 96 balls with 7 fours.

The Indian bowlers struggled to stop the flow of runs and were unable to dismiss the duo until Mahmudullah edged an Umran Malik short ball to wicketkeeper KL Rahul, who dove to his right to take an outstanding one-handed catch.
Mehidy Hasan kept up the good work and finished with his first ODI century, reaching 100* in 83 balls. The total for Bangladesh after 50 overs was 271/7, with 18 runs from Nasum Ahmed in just 11 balls. The most effective Indian bowler was Washington Sundar, who finished with a bowling average of 3/37. Siraj and Malik both claimed two wickets.
