It was Day 5 drama at Lord 5, which contained all the tension, ability, heartbreak, and hope. With a historic first-ever win against Australia in pursuit, Team India folded up in their first innings at 82/7, but Ravindra Jadeja unexpectedly emerged as the saviour. His unbeaten 61, coupled with resurgent defiance against Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, had the audience hoping for a miraculous finish.

It was over at 112/8. Yet the tail of the Indian side was not ready to quit. Bumrah was blocking England, where Siraj was like a wall. Each succeeding run was greeted with acclamation, and the crowd of the Lord was hanging on the very edge of their seats.

England Hold Their Nerve as Siraj’s Wicket Seals the Game

A tragic event came along in the 75th over, as Siraj was dismissed and the latter were left all out on 170, 22 short of the goal. Although Jadeja did not lose his wicket, he could not do much as England won in a historic victory. Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer were critical and took three wickets each, with Shoaib Bashir getting the other final wicket and ending the suspense.

England Now Lead 2-1

Winning this, England are now 2-1 up in the 5 match series. Yorkshire hosted the first Test against England, where they won, and then India were back with a win at Edgbaston. Now both are in a must-win situation for two consecutive matches.
