India is set to face New Zealand in the final of the Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. The Rohit Sharma-led team will aim to secure their second ICC title in less than a year, following their T20 World Cup triumph in June 2024.

India's Road to the Final

India has displayed dominant form in the tournament, winning all three of their group-stage matches against Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand before overpowering Australia in the semi-final. Rohit Sharma’s men have looked in great touch, with key players contributing significantly throughout the competition.

Virat Kohli’s Injury Scare

However, ahead of the high-stakes final, India received a big injury scare as Virat Kohli reportedly suffered a knee injury during a practice session. According to Geo TV, Kohli was hit by a fast bowler’s delivery, forcing him to stop training immediately. The team physio applied a spray and bandaged the affected area, leading to concerns about his availability for the final.

While Kohli did not resume batting after the incident, Indian coaching staff later assured that the injury is not serious and that Kohli will play the final.

Kohli’s Form and Impact

Kohli has been instrumental in India's campaign, particularly in the semi-final against Australia, where his match-winning 84-run knock guided the team to victory. Although he missed out on what would have been his 25th century in a successful chase, his ability to counter spinners—once considered his Achilles’ heel—has been a positive takeaway.

With Kohli expected to take the field, India will be hopeful of another masterclass from the batting maestro as they chase the Champions Trophy title.
