According to Geo TV, Kohli was hit by a fast bowler’s delivery, forcing him to stop training immediately. The team physio applied a spray and bandaged the affected area, leading to concerns about his availability for the final.

While Kohli did not resume batting after the incident, Indian coaching staff later assured that the injury is not serious and that Kohli will play the final.

Kohli has been instrumental in India's campaign, particularly in the semi-final against Australia, where his match-winning 84-run knock guided the team to victory.
