IND vs NZ: After picking up four wickets in Tuesday’s (November 22) third and final T20I match in Napier against New Zealand, Mohammed Siraj shared his secret to success. As a backup bowler for Team India in the T20 World Cup, the pacer said that he practised hard length deliveries, which helped him perform well under similar circumstances.

The footage was shared on Twitter by the BCCI with the following caption: “Presenting bowling heroes from Napier – Arshdeep and Siraj.”

In a conversation, Siraj responded by saying, “I am feeling terrific as a fast bowler. Performing helps me gain confidence because I was preparing myself for a long time. I was also on standby in the T20 World Cup. So, I was preparing my plan to bowl on the hard length. It wasn’t easy to bowl here.”

Siraj registered his best-ever figure

The fast bowler also mentioned how happy he was to be playing for India once more following the T20 World Cup and stated that he intended to bowl sensibly in order to obtain wickets. Tuesday’s match against the Blackcaps saw Siraj record a 4/17, his career-high. The dangerous-appearing Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, James Neesham, and Mitchell Santner were all dismissed, causing havoc in New Zealand’s batting order.

He additionally did a strong run-out to complete India’s team hat-trick in the penultimate over.

Arshdeep Singh recalls his learning from Bhuvi-Shami

Arshdeep Singh, who also scored four runs against New Zealand, said he was learning how to bowl knuckleballs from veteran seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Against the Kiwis in the third T20I, the young left-arm pacer bowled a few knuckleballs.

During the T20I World Cup, senior pacer Mohammed Shami taught the left-arm pacer how to use yorkers, the pacer further revealed. While conversing with Siraj, Arshdeep said, “Many experienced and quality bowlers are playing with me, so I try to keep learning. I am learning hard length from you [Siraj] and knuckle-ball from Bhuvi Bhai.”

Continuing further, he said “Earlier I learned how to use yorkers from Shami Bhai. I keep learning, help the team get wickets, and control the flow of runs when required.”

India won the series 1-0

The hosts were finally bowled out for 160 in 19.4 overs because to Siraj and Arshdeep’s effective bowling effort, which saw them lose six wickets for three runs in 12 deliveries. Using the DLS technique, the game was declared a tie, and Team India went on to win the T20I series 1-0.
