IND vs SA 1st ODI Toss: At the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, the first ODI will contest Temba Bavuma’s South Africa against Shikhar Dhawan's India. Team India has won the toss, and opt to bowl first. Each of the side will play fourty overs in their innings due to the time lost because of rain.

New rules for the match:

  • Powerplay 1 - 8 overs
  • Powerplay 2 - 24 Overs
  • Powerplay 3 - 8 Overs
  • Maximum 8 Overs Per Bowler.

Senior players of the Indian side have departed to Australia for the forthcoming T20I World Cup, and, as a result, India will be playing with youngsters. In their absence, Shikhar Dhawan will serve as the team's captain, with Shreyas Iyer serving as Vice Captain. The Indian team's new players for this series include Rajat Patidar, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Mukesh Kumar. However, South Africa will continue to have the same squad.

Earlier, India had won the 3-match T20I series against the Proteas by 2-1, after losing in the third and final match in Indore.
