IND vs SA, T20 World Cup 2022: On Sunday, Virat Kohli reached a historic milestone by amassing 1000 runs, becoming only the second player in T20 World Cup history to do so. Mahela Jayawardene was the first to reach the milestone; his 1016 runs in the T20 World Cup, scored at an average of 39.07 and a strike rate of 134.74, were the culmination of his career.

Whereas, Virat Kohli scored 1001 runs in 22 innings with an average of 83.41, strike rate of 131.71, and 12 fifties. King Kohli’s record in T20I are unparalled.

As opposed to Jayawardene, who needed 31 innings to reach the milestone, Kohli did so in just 22 innings during the tournament. The Indian No. 3 batsman is the first from his nation to set the mark, with skipper Rohit Sharma being the second player in tournament history to surpass 900 runs.
