This election comebeack would relieve Rohit of some of the strain that came with failing on multiple occasions in 2022 to live up to his "Hitman" title. In two Test matches this year, Rohit amassed 90 runs at an average of 30 with a top score of 46. He scored 249 runs at an average of 41.50 in eight One Day Internationals, including three half-centuries and a personal best of 76*.
When Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl, skipper Rohit teamed up with the newbie opener Shubman Gill to create an unbroken opening partnership of more than 100 runs in just 15 overs. Before reaching his fifty, Rohit struck seven fours and two sixes, sparking a boundary-hitting frenzy from both hitters.
