IND vs SL: Team Sri Lanka departs for India to play white-ball series, know schedule and squad here

IND vs SL: Beginning on January 3 in Mumbai, India will host Sri Lanka for six white-ball games. On Saturday, Dasun Shanaka's Sri Lankan team left SLC Headquarters in Colombo. Sri Lanka Cricket posted the information along with some images of the team flying out to India on their official Twitter account.

Sri Lanka team departs for India

The T20 Asia Cup was won by Sri Lanka at the end of 2022, although they were unable to advance to the T20 World Cup semifinals. They hosted Afghanistan for a three-match ODI series, which they drew 1-1 in their final bilateral series of the year.

A number of players that took part in the Afghanistan series, including Dinesh Chandimal, Asitha Fernando, and Dhananjaya Lakshan, will not be participating in the India tour. The omission of Chandimal is unexpected given that he played in the Lanka Premier League 2022 for the Colombo Stars, who finished in second place, and was the competition's third-highest run-scorer.

Taking to Twitter, Sri Lanka cricket wrote “Sri Lanka limited over squad led by Dasun Shanaka left the SLC HQ premises short while ago to embark on their tour to India.”

When will the series begin and what is the squad?

After being absent for the Afghanistan series, Avishka Fernando and Chamika Karunaratne have been added to the squad. Karunaratne, who plays for both the ODI and T20I teams, was in excellent form with Kandy Falcons in the LPL 2022.

The two teams will play three T20 International matches on January 3, 5, and 7 in Mumbai, Pune, and Rajkot, respectively, before the three-match ODI series gets underway in Guwahati on January 10. On January 12 and January 15, respectively, the last two matches will take place in Thiruvananthapuram and Kolkata.
