IND vs SL: Virat Kohli has brought up a special record to his name during the third and final ODI vs Sri Lanka at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Kohli smashed eight sixes in his knock of 166 not out to get India at 390/5 in 50 overs. This is the most number of sixes by him in an inning in ODI cricket.
Kohli’s second-highest ODI score
Kohli’s knock of 166 also his is the second-highest in ODI cricket as the top knock (183) is Pakistan which came in 2011 during Asia Cup.
The 34-year-old also became the fifth Kohli also became the fifth-highest run-scorer in ODI cricket and he is now just three centuries away from levelling Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI tons.
Sensational Gill
Earlier, Shubman Gill ripped all the controversies and scored his second ODI ton. He ended up adding 116 runs to his name in 97 balls with 14 fours and two sixes. Gill looked comfortable vs Sri Lanka bowlers and went hard against them.
India finished at 390/5 in 50 overs, Kohli top-scored for the team but the way Gill played has got enough praise from the entire cricketing spectrum.
India lead the three-match series 2-0 and if they win this clash then Rohit Sharma-led team will secure yet another clean sweep over Sri Lanka.
