IND Vs SRI: Cricket has a way of surprising us all the time. Just when you think you have seen everything, something new comes out of nowhere and sweeps you off your feet.
That is exactly what happened during the first IND Vs SRI T20i match when Kamindu Mendis did something bizarre. He instantly became a headline and took all the attention away from Surya Kumar Yadav, who was in blistering form.
Kamindu Mendis became one of the very few Ambidextrous bowlers in international cricket. An ambidextrous bowler refers to a bowler who can bowl from both hands and that is exactly what Kamindu did against India.

Kamindu Mendis made his debut against India in 2018. Today, he was introduced in the 10th over and instantly stole all the headlines. It was such a rare and bizarre sight that everyone was surprised by it.
The spinner bowled the first four deliveries to Surya Kumar Yadav with left arm. But as soon as Rishabh Pant came on strike, Mendis switched to right-arm orthodox spin and it took both batsmen a while to settle down against him.
It is not the first time that Mendis has done this. He has done this previously in the U19 World Cup in January 2024. His control with both arms is phenomenal and he can be a big name in world cricket in the future.

Here's a clip of him in action - and no, that's not a mirror, he really does bowl both right-arm and left-arm spin! pic.twitter.com/rhjJP4wku1
Even though it is a rare sight, this is not the first time that cricket has gotten an Ambidextrous bowler. Before Kamindu Mendis, there was Hashan Tilakaratne. And before him, there was Hanif Mohammad too apparently but no footage exists of his ambidexterity.
