Australia dominated the first session of the first test being played at the Adelaide Oval even as the visitors opted to bat after winning the toss. The Australian pacers succeeded in disturbing the Indian openers from the very beginning with Prithvi Shaw bowled out by left-arm quick Mitchell Starc for a golden duck in the first over of the match.
Mayank Agarwal along with Cheteshwar Pujara tried to take forward the innings, playing cautiously as India didn't lose more wickets in initial overs. However, in the 19th over of the innings, pacer Pat Cummins sent Agarwal back to the pavilion with his brilliant length delivery. It was a wicket-maiden over for Pat Cummins.
Now, it is up to skipper Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Puajara to rebuild India after the dismissal of both openers in the first half.
The Indian team has so far faced 25 overs and scored runs at an average of 1.64. Pujara, continues to play his steady game having faced 88 deliveries. On the other hand, Kohli has so far faced 22 balls.
Both Kohli and Pujara are playing very slowly and cautiously as per the situation as the team wouldn't want to lose any more wickets. The duo have so far faced seven overs after Mayank's dismissal but have scored only nine runs till the dinner break.
