India faces setback at World Athletics Championships 2023 ‘s first day

The World Athletics Championship of 2023 commenced on August 19th. Unfortunately, India’s initial participation was met with disappointment as Avinash Sable was eliminated in the heats. Sable had previously succeeded in reaching the finals in both of his last two attempts, making this early exit unexpected. The race began on a promising note for Sable as he took the lead in his heat. However, a stumble at the final water hurdle caused him to finish in the seventh position. In this competition, only the top five finishers secure a spot in the finals.

In another arena, Praveen Chithravel, Eldhose Paul, and Abdulla Aboobacker also encountered setbacks, resulting in their elimination from the competition. The criteria for qualifying for the final was either achieving a distance of 17.15 meters or being among the best 12 performers. Unfortunately, none of the Indian athletes were able to surpass this benchmark. Abdulla came the closest with a jump of 16.61 meters, securing a 15th place finish.
