FISU Games 2023: The WUSHU team for World University Games has faced so much drama in the past few days over the issue of Visas. After being forced to drop out of the games over VISA issues, they have finally done it.
The stapled/stamped Visa drama has been going on for a few days now and finally reached its conclusion. And the worst thing is that the Indian team had to take the decision after being denied entry to the airport.
It is no secret that China has denied stamped visas to people from Arunachal Pradesh over territorial issues. And three Indian athletes faced the same issue when they applied for Visa on July 16.
Denied Entry On The Airport
Eight members of the Indian camp were denied entry into New Delhi airport. The members included Five athletes, a coach, and two support personnel. It was as disrespectful as it can get. After all, these eight members were going to represent their country on a very big stage.
According to coach Raghvendra Singh, “We were stopped at the gate by immigration officials and CISF personnel. They did not give any reason and claimed they were merely acting on the government’s instructions."
Apparently, the three athletes from Arunachal Pradesh who were issued a stapled Visa instead of a stamped one were not part of the group that was denied entry.
Government Protest
The Indian government took the disrespect as it was and is hell-bent on protesting against this discriminatory activity by China. With Asian Games 2023 also around the corner, this might be India's reply to Chinese antics.
The Indian government is hell-bent and determined that they won't send their athletes for this FISU Games 2023 now.
