IPL 2023: Big blow to RCB ! Previous season’s hero Rajat Patidar ruled out with injury

IPL 2023: In a major setback for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), their star batsman Rajat Patidar has been declared unfit to play for the entire season. This news comes as a surprise to many, as earlier reports suggested he would only miss the first half of the tournament. Although the RCB management remained hopeful that he would recover, they have now confirmed his absence for the entire season.

RCB’s another injury woe in IPL 2023

As of now, the team has decided not to announce any replacements for Patidar. Taking to Twitter, RCB stated, “Unfortunately, Rajat Patidar has been ruled out of #IPL2023 due to an Achilles Heel injury. We wish Rajat a speedy recovery and will continue to support him during the process. The coaches and management have decided not to name a replacement player for Rajat just yet.”

Interestingly, before the first match against MI, RCB head coach Sanjay Bangar expressed optimism that the National Cricket Academy (NCA) would make a fair decision regarding Patidar’s eligibility to play. He also mentioned that he currently has full authority over the NCA. He had said, “As far as Rajat goes, at this point he’s out of our control, at the NCA he’s sort of undergoing treatment in that particular academy and we are still waiting for the clarifications from him. And once we get the clarifications, our media team will certainly keep you in the loop and it might also be the case the NCA will take a very sporting call on what he does or what his future holds.”

RCB’s Official Statement

Despite some setbacks, RCB secured a comfortable eight-wicket victory against MI in their opening match. However, the team’s left-arm pacer Reece Topley suffered a shoulder injury during the previous game, and it’s uncertain whether he’ll be ready to play in the next match.
