IPL 2023: Following Mumbai Indians' first victory of IPL 2023, skipper Rohit Sharma spoke with his wife, Ritika Sajdeh on a video call in the ground, a video of which was shared by the management. He promised to bring home the trophy for their daughter Samaira, in the category of longest sixes and most fours. On Tuesday, the record five-time champions won a nail-biting last-ball thriller against Delhi Capitals by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Rohit's emotional message to Ritika

Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bowl first. The hosts set a target of 172 runs after losing all their wickets with just two balls left. Rohit Sharma's team took control of the match with the captain's knock of 65 runs off 45 balls, along with Tilak Verma's contribution of 41 runs off 29 balls.

Rohit Sharma was named the Player of the Match and was presented with trophies for hitting the longest six and most fours during the game. Following the match, he was seen in a video call with his wife Ritika, promising to bring the trophy for their daughter, Samaira. Rohit also revealed that he was nervous during the last over and couldn't bear to watch. He said, "I feel good. I went inside, didn’t want to see the last over man. My nails are gone. I have been part of these kinds of games a lot in these 15 years of IPL."

Despite facing a tough challenge from Delhi Capitals in the last over of the match, Mumbai Indians emerged victorious in their first match of the IPL 2023 season. With just five runs needed to win off the last over, the situation became tense as Anrich Nortje's five consecutive yorkers almost turned the game in Delhi's favour, with Mumbai needing two runs off the last ball. However, Tim David and Cameron Green's successful run helped Mumbai secure their first victory of the tournament.
