IPL 2024: Everyone knows the influence MS Dhoni has on youngsters. There is a whole generation of players that have been motivated by Captain Cool’s heroics and have taken cricket because of that.
Not only that, the former Indian skipper has groomed countless cricketers or have provided them with valuable advice. Be it for the Indian cricket team or the Chennai Super Kings, Dhoni has always helped the youngsters.
One such player who has been getting groomed under MS Dhoni since last year is Mateesha Pathirana. The express pace bowler took the world by storm last year and has been phenomenal this season as well.
‘He Is Like My Father’
There was no doubt that Dhoni loved the youngster and his thrilling performances for CSK. With his unique action and accurate yorkers he has become a nightmare for all the batsmen in IPL 2024.
Pathirana has been improving with every match and he gives a lot of credit to Dhoni for that. In a recent interview, the Sri Lankan opened up about the impact MS Dhoni had on his career and expressed his gratitude.
“After my father, in my cricket life, mostly he’s playing my father’s role. He always takes care of me and gives me some advice on what I have to do. Similar to my father’s thing when I am doing it in my home. I think that’s enough.” Pathirana stated.
IPL 2024: One Of The Best Bowlers
Pathirana has been one of the best bowlers of IPL 2024 so far. In just 6 matches he has taken 13 wickets and has been instrumental in CSK’s victories. He stated how MS Dhoni has been helping him with that.
“He is not telling me a lot of things when I am in the field or off the field. He’s telling just small things, but it makes a lot of difference and gives me a lot of confidence. So, those little things.” Pathirana stated.
