IPL 2024: ‘We Have To Evolve With Time,’ Ravi Shastri Backs The Impact Rule In The Tournament; Read More

IPL 2024

Ravi Shastri came out and backed the Impact Rule in IPL 2024 and stated that everyone has to evolve with time.

IPL 2024: The Impact Rule is one of the most divisive rules in IPL history. Many experts love the rule because it gives a chance to extra Indian players, while others are against it because it has made bowlers even more helpless.

A few days ago BCCI Secretary Jay Shah stated that the Impact Rule was just on trial basis and there would be a discussion regarding the rule in the future. He stated that he would discuss the applicability of the rule next season in the next stakeholders meeting.

Many experts and fans have come out since then and stated that they would like the rule to be abolished. But former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has come out and supported the rule.

Evolve With Time

Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri backed the Impact Player rule in IPL 2024. He stated that the rule has given us many thrilling finishes in the last two seasons. He further stated that everyone has to evolve with time and this is it.

“The Impact Player [rule] is good. You have to evolve with the times. You know, it happens in other sports as well. It’s got tighter finishes. You have to evolve with the times and I think it’s a good rule. You saw the number of tight finishes we had in last year’s IPL. So, you know, it has made a big difference.”

“You know when any new rule comes in, there will be people try and justify why that’s not right. But in time when you see the scores – 200 and 190 – and then like you mentioned individuals grabbing that opportunity and making the most of it, people will start re-looking at how they think about it.” he further stated.

IPL 2024: Rohit Sharma Criticizes Impact Rule

A few weeks ago Rohit Sharma criticized the Impact Rule stating that it hampers the growth and development of All Rounders in India. He had a valid point, but Ravichandran Ashwin backed the rule. He stated that it has given opportunity to players like Dhruv Jurel, who started his career as an Impact sub last season.
