IPL Auction 2025: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has broken its bank for Australian all-rounder Cameron Green.
Green was bought by KKR after an intense battle with Chennai Super Kings. The Shah Rukh Khan-owned KKR roped in Green for a whopping Rs. 25.20 crore. With this development, Green has broken the previous record held by his countryman Mitchell Starc (Rs 24.75 crore, IPL 2024, KKR) to become the costliest foreign player ever.
IPL Auction 2026: How Much Will Green Get?
Under the new IPL rules, overseas players cannot get more than Rs. 18 crore even if they are bought by teams for more than this value. This means Green will get Rs. 18 crore while the remaining Rs. 7.20 crore will go to the BCCI’s Welfare Fund. This also means that teams buying players for more than Rs. 18 crore will see their deduction for the total money and not just Rs. 18 crore. In the case of Green, KKR stands to lose the entire Rs. 25.20 crore from its auction purse.
