IPL Viral Video: On Sunday, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) achieved one of the most improbable victories in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Gujarat Titans (GT), thanks to the leadership of Nitish Rana. With only 5 deliveries left in the match, KKR required 28 runs to win. However, Rinku Singh stepped up to the plate and smashed 5 consecutive sixes, securing a historic win for his team. Rinku’s stunning performance sent shockwaves throughout the cricketing world, prompting KKR’s regular captain, Shreyas Iyer, who is currently sidelined with an injury, to make a video call to congratulate him.
Shreyas Iyer Praises Rinku Singh
As Rinku Singh accomplished the impossible at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, Iyer couldn’t believe what he was witnessing and immediately called the batter. Nitish Rana, who was standing in as the franchise’s skipper, also joined the call to congratulate Rinku on his stunning performance. Iyer started the conversation by loudly yelling “Rinku Bhaiya Zindabad!” (Long Live Rinku).
While filling in for Iyer as the captain of KKR, Nitish Rana also chimed in on the conversation and asked if Iyer had watched the match, expressing that the team was missing him. Rana also shared that Rinku had promised not to repeat the mistake of last year and was determined to finish the game this time around.

Referring to the 2022 season when Rinku was dismissed in the last over during a run-chase against Lucknow Super Giants, a match that KKR lost by just two runs, Rana added that Rinku had said that he wouldn’t repeat the same mistake and was determined to see the game through to the end this time. “Rinku keh raha tha last year ki tarah chhodunga nahi, Khatm karke aaunga,” Rana stated.
Rinku’s brutal inning
In an impressive display of batting skills, Rinku emerged as the chase masterclass at the Narendra Modi Stadium, delivering five consecutive sixes against Yash Dayal in the final over to secure a win for KKR. Despite the setback of GT’s stand-in captain Rashid Khan’s hat-trick in the 17th over, reducing KKR to 155/7, Rinku (48 not out off 21 balls) played a dominant innings, clinching one of the most unforgettable victories in the history of the Indian Premier League.
KKR needed 29 runs in the final over to achieve the winning target of 205. Umesh Yadav opted for a single, handing Rinku the strike for the first ball of the over. Rinku then unleashed his full potential and demolished Dayal’s bowling attack, hitting five consecutive sixes, all in the air, to guide his team to a remarkable victory.
