Ishan Kishan: Star opening batsman for India, opened up on what his reaction was, following the Rishabh Pant’s near-fatal car accident on December 30. He said that at first, he assumed it was just a normal accident and that people were making a big deal out of it, but that by the time he realised what had happened, he was extremely shocked.
During the early hours of Friday, Pant’s car crashed with a road barrier on the Delhi-Dehradun highway, while he was on his way to surprise his mother before the new year. The player was taken to Saksham Hospital near Roorkee’s, where it was found that, although he had no fractures, he did have a torn ligament in his knee, necessitating additional examination.
What did Ishan Kishan say?
Before the first T20I between India and Sri Lanka on 3rd of January, Ishan Kishan said, “I have played so many games here. It seams a lot here. I want to watch the ball and then take it from there. We are a young side and we are eager to express ourselves. When I first heard the news, thought it was a normal accident and people are making a big thing out of it, but when I got to know, I was really scared. Don’t know how fast my heartbeat was during the Ranji Trophy game. We wish him a speedy recovery and wish him all the best [on Rishabh Pant].”
Kishan also sent his best wishes for Pant’s quick recovery, noting that when he first learned of the mishap during the Ranji Trophy game, his heartbeat ran faster than usual. Earlier, a video of Ishan Kishan went viral in which he was seen giving a shocked reaction when he first came to know about the incident.
