Ken Block: US rally driver, YouTuber dies in a snowmobile accident, fans in grief

Ken Block: Ken Block, a US rally driver and YouTube star, died when his snowmobile overturned on a steep slope in Utah, according to his racing team and US media on Monday. "It's with our deepest regrets that we can confirm that Ken Block passed away in a snowmobile accident today," Hoonigan Racing Division said on its web page.

Block was an action sports celebrity

On Monday afternoon, Block, 55, was riding a snowmobile when it "suddenly upended" and landed on top of him. He was declared dead at the scene.According to the sheriff's office, Block was alone at the time of the accident. He had earlier posted pictures on his Instagram page on Monday. Block was an action sports celebrity who co-founded the skateboard company DC Shoes in 1994 and began his rally-driving career ten years later when the company was sold.

Block competed in motocross and snowboarding

He rose to prominence after uploading his 10-part Gymkhana video series to YouTube, in which he performed stunt driving on dangerous tracks and obstacle courses. His videos have been viewed over a billion times, and his Hoonigan YouTube channel has become the most popular in the history of motorsports. Block also competed in motocross and snowboarding.
