KL Rahul remains focused on his recovery, aiming for a swift comeback before the Asia Cup. The talented right-handed batsman has been out of action since May due to a thigh injury. During the IPL 2023 match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 1, he picked up the injury while fielding. However, after a long wait, KL Rahul has resumed practising in the nets.
KL Rahul to make comeback soon?
The Lucknow Super Giants captain suffered a torn tendon in his right leg while chasing a ball during the second over of their match, leading to his withdrawal from the rest of the competition. Consequently, he was also unable to participate in the World Test Championship final and the ongoing West Indies tour.
KL Rahul was initially anticipated to be part of India’s tour of Ireland to gain valuable match practice. However, the selectors have chosen not to include him, although they named Jasprit Bumrah in the team. This decision has led to speculations about the star batsman’s full fitness.
KL Rahul’s much-awaited return to international cricket seems imminent. On Wednesday (August 2), he shared a video on Instagram, showcasing himself batting and keeping in the nets. In the footage, Rahul appeared comfortable and at ease, giving hope for his swift return to the game.

Although KL Rahul is currently not part of the Ireland series, expectations are high for his inclusion in the Indian team for the highly anticipated Asia Cup, set to take place from August 30 to September 17. The tournament opener against arch-rivals Pakistan is scheduled for September 2.
With Rishabh Pant’s absence, Rahul’s role in the team becomes even more crucial. While Ishan Kishan is presently the preferred wicketkeeper-batsman, Rahul is likely to step up and shoulder the responsibility upon his return to the team.
