Amidst the ongoing chaos in Bangladesh, several tweets were shared claiming that cricketer Liton Das house was set ablaze. What is the truth?
Amidst the political turmoil in Bangladesh, a video has started surfacing on social media claiming that Bangladeshi cricketer Liton Das house has been set ablaze by protestors against the Hindu community.
As Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country on Monday, things were tense. Communal violence was at its peak and a large group of protestors were on the road.
Amidst the chaos, several tweets were shared on social media claiming that Hindu houses and temples were being burnt in Bangladesh. Among these tweets, several pictures of Liton Das and his house being burnt were also shared.
Liton Das is a Bangladeshi international cricketer and has been representing the national team for a while now. He has even captained the Bangladesh national team for a while.
Liton is a Bengali Hindu and has been a hero to Bangladesh cricket so many times over the years. The post shared on 'X' stated that the student protestors had burnt Das's house because he is a Hindu.
Contrary to shared tweets and claims the house set on fire was not Liton's house. Furthermore, the house that was set ablaze belonged to former Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza.
Mortaza is also a Bangladesh cricket hero and was respected all around the country. But the students lost their patience with him as Mortaza is an MP with Sheik Hasina's Awami League.
Who are the people, spreading this news that "Litton Das house is burnt"

Stop spreading false news !!
It is the house of MP of Narail-2
"Mashrafe Mortaza's".
He was also Ex - Bangladeshi Cricketer.
Stop this Hindu-Muslim politics !!
But we can also not deny the loss of lives… https://t.co/8aXEXqtOcP
The protestors were constantly targeting Awami League leaders's houses and Mortaza is one of them. Many tweets were shared clearing that confusion and stating that Liton and his family are safe. Many users also shared posts of local Muslims in Bangladesh coming together and saving local temples in the country.
A lot of Indian Right wing accounts are spreading communal propaganda.
